Your Silhouette hair is an investment. With the proper care and maintenance, your extensions can continue looking beautiful, soft, and luxurious. Because our hair is a natural product, proper maintenance is essential to preserving its appearance and longevity.
Daily Care
1. Detangle Gently
Always detangle your hair gently, starting from the ends and gradually working your way toward the roots. Use a wide-tooth comb or a high-quality brush. Avoid aggressively pulling or brushing through tangles.
2. Protect Your Hair While Sleeping
Before going to bed, gently detangle your hair and secure it with overnight rollers or in a loose braid, low ponytail, or other protective style. Sleep with a silk or satin bonnet or use a silk/satin pillowcase to help reduce friction and moisture loss.
3. Minimize Excessive Heat
Frequent heat styling can cause dryness and damage over time. When using heat:
- Always use a heat protectant.
- Keep temperatures as low as reasonably possible.
- Avoid repeatedly passing a hot tool over the same section.
- Allow the hair to cool before restyling.
Washing Your Hair
We recommend washing your extensions approximately every 1–2 weeks, depending on your lifestyle, installation, and amount of product buildup.
Step 1 — Detangle
Gently detangle the hair before washing. Start at the ends and work upward.
Step 2 — Shampoo
Use a gentle, sulfate-free or extension-friendly shampoo. Focus on cleansing the scalp and roots while allowing the shampoo to gently travel through the lengths of the hair. Avoid aggressively rubbing or tangling the hair.
Step 3 — Condition
Apply a moisturizing conditioner from the mid-lengths through the ends. Allow the conditioner to sit according to the product's instructions before rinsing thoroughly.
Step 4 — Dry
Gently squeeze excess water from the hair. Do not aggressively twist or wring the extensions. Allow the hair to air dry when possible or use a blow dryer on a low or medium setting with heat protection.
Curly & Wavy Textures
For curly or wavy textures, avoid brushing the hair while it is completely dry if doing so causes excessive frizz or disruption to the natural pattern. Instead:
- Lightly mist the hair with water.
- Apply a lightweight leave-in conditioner or curl product.
- Gently detangle using your fingers or a wide-tooth comb.
- Scrunch the hair to encourage the natural wave or curl pattern.
- Allow the hair to air dry whenever possible.
Products to Avoid
To help preserve the quality of your extensions, avoid excessive use of:
- Heavy oils
- Greasy styling products
- Products containing excessive alcohol
- Harsh chemical treatments
- Excessive heat
- Strong adhesives directly on the hair
Product buildup can weigh the hair down and may make it appear dull or difficult to style.
Coloring & Chemical Processing
Raw hair may be chemically processed, but we strongly recommend having coloring or bleaching performed by an experienced professional.

Sleeping with Your Hair
Never go to bed with heavily tangled or wet hair. Before sleeping:
Detangle → moisturize lightly → secure → protect with satin/silk.
This simple routine can help reduce friction, tangling, and unnecessary shedding.
Professional Maintenance
For installed extensions, we recommend following the maintenance schedule recommended by your hairstylist. Professional maintenance may be necessary depending on your installation method.
